As part of our interdisciplinary team at the Center for Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Salzburg, Austria, you will conduct research activities in national and international research projects. You will complement our team of designers, engineers, social and natural scientists with your expertise in theories and methods of social science in various projects around human-computer interaction.

Your profile

  • You have a background in social science / STS
  • You are happy to work with theories (e.g., Actor-Network Theory; Ethnomethodology; …) and are passionate about intensifying your respective knowledge
  • Your methodological knowledge is outstanding
  • You are able to identify, articulate, and question social / societal phenomena, you are confident in finding or creating methodological strategies to inquire into these phenomena, and you can advocate these strategies
  • You are specifically passionate about technology that humans interact with and the social phenomena surrounding these interactions
  • Preferably, you have a track record of research in the field of Social Science / HCI / Interaction Design
  • You have excellent communication skills in spoken and written English

The PhD position is offered in accordance with the University and Employee Law and with § 26 of the “Kollektivvertrag für die ArbeitnehmerInnen der Universitäten” (Collective Agreement for University Employees; group B1; the gross monthly salary for 30 hours is EUR 2048,30, 14x per year).
