The Center for Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Salzburg, Austria, is looking for a PhD candidate to join an international research project that focuses on tangible interactions for intergenerational relationships. Depending on the candidate’s background, these tangible interactions may be explored from a (constructive, material) design research viewpoint or a social / critical involvement.

Your profile:

  • You completed your master studies in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Product Design, Humanities, Social Sciences, or a related program
  • You have excellent skills and practical experience in one or more of the following research areas: Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design Research, Tangible Interaction, Design Fiction, Empirical Research, Science and Technology Studies, etc.
  • You have excellent communication skills in spoken and written English

The PhD position is offered in accordance with the University and Employee Law and with § 26 of the “Kollektivvertrag für die ArbeitnehmerInnen der Universitäten” (Collective Agreement for University Employees; group B1; the gross monthly salary for 30 hours is EUR 2.148,40, 14x per year). The successful candidate will first be offered a temporary position of one year with the option of renewal.
